Top Tech Highlights
Netflix co-founder Reed Hastings joins Anthropic’s board of directors
Anthropic has appointed Reed Hastings, Netflix’s co-founder and former CEO, to its board of directors. The company highlights his leadership experience and commitment to aligning technology with societal goals. Hastings says he joined because he supports Anthropic’s thoughtful approach to AI development and its focus on human progress.
Anthropic launches a voice mode for Claude
Anthropic is rolling out a voice mode for its Claude chatbot app, enabling full spoken conversations in English. Currently in beta, the feature uses the Claude Sonnet 4 model and will display key points on screen while responding aloud. It’s designed for hands-free use, ideal for multitasking users.
Opera’s new browser can code websites and games
Opera is launching a new browser called Opera Neon, designed for AI-powered workflows like shopping, coding, and form-filling. The browser includes three features: Chat (a chatbot interface), Do (a local AI agent that performs tasks), and Make (which generates content using cloud-based AI workflows that can run offline).
WordPress now has a team dedicated to AI
WordPress has officially formed a dedicated team to lead its AI efforts. This new group will coordinate artificial intelligence initiatives across the WordPress ecosystem and maintain a public roadmap on a new “Core AI” page. It marks a significant step in integrating AI more deeply into the platform’s future development and plugin ecosystem.
What You Really Need to Know
Tech giants are doubling down on intelligent tools (and strategic leadership)
AI is becoming core to the strategy of major tech platforms. Anthropic is deepening its investment in responsible AI by bringing on Reed Hastings, a tech industry veteran known for scaling Netflix and driving digital innovation. This move, alongside its rollout of voice capabilities in Claude, signals Anthropic’s push to make its chatbot more accessible and human-like, especially for multitasking users who benefit from hands-free interactions.
Meanwhile, other platforms are rapidly embedding AI into user experiences. Opera is launching an AI-first browser Neon, capable of performing tasks and generating code or content independently, even offline. WordPress is also formalizing its AI vision with a new internal team to guide its development roadmap, emphasizing how integral AI will be to everything from web publishing to productivity tools. These developments show that AI isn’t just a feature, it’s shaping the infrastructure and future direction of the internet.
Small Business Spotlight
More than 1 in 5 small business owners work over 50 hours weekly. With so much to do, it’s easy to get caught up in the day-to-day, leaving little room for thinking about the bigger picture. Business Insider shared Quantious Founder and CEO Lisa Larson-Kelley’s thoughts on how building strong relationships within our team is just as crucial as getting the work done.
