From remote interviews to authentic, campaign-ready testimonials

How Quantious turned distributed merchant testimonials into polished, authentic videos—on brand, and on budget.

Our client needed to create a video ad campaign featuring merchant testimonials that highlighted new product features. The videos were part of a larger event, so the deadline was not only tight, but also immovable.

Quantious was brought in to manage production from end to end. To ensure high quality and consistency across recordings, we built an easy-to-follow, streamlined process for recording the interviews remotely. Once recordings were complete, we worked with the client and merchants to transform tight soundbites, merchant-provided imagery, and product screenshots into cohesive, eye-catching videos.

The Challenge

Production needed to move quickly, but with merchants located in different parts of the world, and possessing a range of recording equipment and technical abilities, we needed to sort out the production strategy. Without the right process, the quality of the videos could be jeopardized and technical difficulties could distract interviewees. On the content side, we wanted to capture genuine, authentic interviews, while also accurately highlighting new product features. This proved complicated—overly rehearsed answers lacked genuine enthusiasm, but each video also needed to tell a clear story.

As a final product, the client wanted each raw video testimonial polished to fit a particular look and feel, edited to include specific graphics and motion assets. However, the existing materials weren’t built for every required deliverable, so we would need to significantly adapt the assets to turn these into a unified series of video ads.

Our Approach

We began by researching multiple remote recording platforms to determine which would work best for capturing the merchant interviews. We evaluated the options based on ease of use, proven reliability, and compatibility across different setups.

For the interviews themselves, rather than using a one-size-fits-all script, we developed questions tailored to each merchant's individual experience and story. To ensure that we captured the merchant’s genuine reactions, we made the choice not to rehearse the conversations ahead of time. The goal was to provide enough structure to surface the right product benefits without scripting away the excitement and authenticity that makes testimonial creative compelling. In situations where we finished interviews and felt there were opportunities to capture stronger material, we recorded additional takes as needed.

To keep everything moving forward according to our timeline, we built the visual storytelling around the merchants' words in parallel to the interviews. Screenshots and other materials supplied by the client and merchants became raw material for custom animated assets, while existing graphics and motion files were manipulated and reformatted according to the campaign's specs. Instead of forcing every deliverable into the same mold, we treated the available assets as a flexible creative system, adapting them as needed while maintaining consistency.

Removing the technical barriers to a strong interview and protecting the authenticity of the interaction made the storytelling piece of the process easier.  By building the supporting visuals around the interviews, rather than forcing the conversations to fit the creative materials, we were able to craft compelling testimonial content.

The Impact

We delivered a cohesive series of testimonial videos that brought new product features to life through the experiences of real merchants. By solving for remote recording quality upfront and adapting existing visual assets rather than relying solely on new production, Quantious exceeded the client’s expectations and helped them navigate a demanding production process under a tight deadline.

This project reinforced an important lesson for remote testimonial production: you can still capture authenticity without leaving everything to chance. With solid technical preparation and a tailored interview approach, genuine moments can be captured, even remotely.
