These Are the Biggest Announcements From Meta Connect 2026
Meta held Connect 2026 this past month, where they announced their latest batch of available-now and coming-soon hardware and software features. Zuckerberg released news of lightweight Meta VR Glasses, camera-free Ray-Ban Meta Audio glasses, third-gen Ray-Ban smart glasses, and much more tech that’s capable of leveling up the whole market. But hardware is not all — Meta also released multiple new, cutting-edge features for its new and existing glasses.
OpenAI DevDay recap: AI lab rolls out Dots agents, Altman and Friar comment on IPO
OpenAI continues to innovate, but they made it clear that an IPO is not something they’re rushing towards amidst the innovation. As for developments, the company is making a shift from their AI solely answering questions to getting things done. Some DevDay highlights include the unveiling of the more cost-efficient GPT-6.1 Sol, always-on Dots agents, collaborative ChatGPT Space, and new APIs for building agents and automating decisions.
ChatGPT can now virtually try on clothes for you
ChatGPT introduced new features that allow users to try on clothes after uploading a selfie or a full-body photo, and they can even save the item for later if they like the way it looks on them. What’s more, ChatGPT can also offer styling guidance in-conversation, making online shopping easier and bringing the tool’s personalization capabilities into new spaces.
Shopify debuts Canvas, a way to build online stores by chatting with AI
Shopify merchants can now use Canvas to converse with AI to create and edit their shops, offering a whole new level of convenience. Shopify’s Sidekick assistant works in real-time and can watch, test, and tweak online stores, all without the need for developers. As Shopify develops the tool in the future, Canvas could make being an online merchant a whole lot more accessible.
Robotaxi operators will face fines for blocking first responders
As autonomous vehicles grow in development and deployment, so does the need for accountability. AV tech companies will soon be legally obligated to provide “local, on-the-ground support” when their robotaxis cause any interference with first responder vehicles under a new California law. In addition, if a robotaxi is blocking a first responder for more than 30 minutes, they could face fines.
