Screens on Your Face, Eyes on Your Teens

Contributed by Pia Michell, Marketing Producer

Here’s your biweekly digest of the tech news you need to know (so you can stay informed, but avoid the click-bait).

Today we’re covering how the future of tech lies within added personalization, in all of the biggest and best ways possible.

Top Tech Highlights

ROG puts a 171-inch screen on your face

ROG and XREAL are teaming up on something big, literally. The AR gaming glasses will turn PCs, consoles, and the ROG Ally into an up-to-171-inch virtual display, with zero setup required. Equipped with a 240Hz refresh rate, adaptive lens tinting, and Sound by Bose, the R1 is bringing you big-screen gaming without the big screen.

Meta gives creators an AI business assistant

Meta’s new Mac app gives creators and small businesses a helpful hub through which they can create more tailored content and tap into Google Workspace data. Users can prompt the app to ask for things like sentiment around content, weekly reports, suggestions, and more. Though there is one disclaimer worth noting: anything users feed into the AI can be used to train it in the future, and fuel ad targeting.

Fitbit’s founders are rethinking the health tracker

Fitbit’s founders are back with Luffu Link, a screenless health and safety band designed to quietly track health patterns, location, and important day-to-day updates. It’s not here to provide another collection of health graphs, but to simplify and help identify curious and indicative patterns. With LTE built-in, it makes contacting trusted family members without a phone easy, shifting the wearable from a fitness tracker to a family safety net of sorts.

Uber gives parents eyes on teen rides

Uber is adding a new feature to teen accounts: live video streaming during rides. The feature uses the driver’s selfie camera and will allow guardians to tune in once the ride starts, simultaneously notifying both the driver and the teen, and the video can’t be accessed by the driver, the guardian, or the rider after the ride is over. Uber will be rolling out the feature over the next few weeks, bringing peace of mind to guardians and a new standard to teen ride safety.

Memory update allows customization in Claude

Claude is introducing a new memory update that lets users carry memories between regular chats and Cowork sessions, bringing more ease to automated tasks across multiple instances. Anthropic is also providing a toggle for the tool to either remember sensitive topics or clear them from its memory, giving users more say in what Claude remembers.
